Crime Description
Many U.S. jurisdictions criminalize the mistreatment, mutilation, concealment, or improper disposal of human remains (often called abuse of a corpse, desecration of a corpse, or unlawful disposal of human remains). Acts such as transporting a corpse for unauthorized disposal, dumping remains in a public place or body of water, or otherwise mishandling a body can constitute crimes.
